My car was repossessed by the title loan company, can it be sold after only 17 days?

I got a auto title loan in Wichita KS. I was late on my loan and after a month of no payment, they repossessed my vehicle on 05/18/11, I called them today 06/03/11 to get the amount so that I could make payment when I got off work and they informed me that I could no longer pay on the balance to get my car back and after ten days it is their vehicle. The lady on the phone informed me that I should have received a certified letter stating that. The problem is I never received a certified letter. Is this legit and can I take legal action against this company?
