Repossession ordered but my car was never actually taken, can they report this to my credit?
I got a few months behind on my car loan. I lost my job. I talked with PNC to get a two month extension. For some reason, they didn't get the paperwork for that extension. During this time that I thought everything was OK, my loan came three months past due. A few days ago, a guy came to my door and told me he was there to repossess my car. I told him there had to be a mistake and got on the phone with PNC. When I finally got ahold of someone who could help, he told me I shouldn't have assumed that everything was OK (which, in all fairness, was right) and that if I didn't pay them 1200 dollars that day, they were going to take my car. I DID pay them that day. What I am worried about is whether or not this will show up on my credit report as a repossession. I would think it would actually have to take place before they could list that. I looked on my credit report and this is what popped up, "public record or collection filed". Is that different than a repossession? I settled on a few credit cards several months ago so that might be it. SOOO, the car never actually got repossessed, can they report this??? Thanks!!!!!!
