Someone gave me a dell inspirion 1501 can't get past the hdd password. any help?

My brother's friend does repo work and one of the vehicles he repossessed had a laptop in it, and the owner never came to claim it so I got it. hence the reason I don't have the password. Can anyone help me get past the hdd password?
